International Fertility Treatment Options

We welcome international patients with 2 thoughtful treatment packages perfect for short visits.

1

Single Visit IVF Treatment Programme

18 days programme

If you prefer to make a single visit, this option is best for you. The entire program is about 18 days – from initial assessment to completion of the IVF program.

  • Initial phone consultation to plan your visit
  • Arrive at Sunfert International on the first or second day of your menstrual cycle as the ovarian stimulation treatment starts on the 2nd or 3rd day
  • Day of arrival you will have an first consultation with a fertility specialist, and for the following 10-12 days you’ll receive ovary stimulation medication
  • Once the eggs are mature (around day 12), we’ll harvest the eggs and fertilise them with your partner or donor sperm
  • 3 to 5 days later, we will transfer the resulting embryo into your womb for pregnancy to occur as normal
  • After embryo transfer, you may return home after 1 or 2 days of rest. Some couples may opt to stay longer, until the pregnancy test, which is about 14 days after the embryo transfer.

Two Visits IVF Treatment Programme

1 day trip & 10 days programme

If you prefer to make two short visits rather than a longer 18-day single visit, this option is best for you.

The first visit is a day trip whereas the second visit is about 10 days.

  • A day visit in person to Sunfert International to have a fertility assessment with your specialist and plan your treatment
  • During this visit, we will provide you the with medications to take at home. You’ll need to take the medications daily until you return to Sunfert International later for the final ten days of treatment
  • Your second trip to Sunfert International is 10 days. We’ll check on the maturity of your eggs until they are ready to harvest
  • The day we harvest your eggs we’ll fertilise them with your partner or donor sperm
  • 2 to 5 days later, we will transfer the resulting embryo into your womb for pregnancy to occur as normal
  • After embryo transfer, you may return home after 1 or 2 days of rest. Some couples may opt to stay longer, until the pregnancy test, which is about 14 days after the embryo transfer.

For couples opting for NextGen IVF, there will be no embryo transfer as the embryos will be cryo-frozen after biopsy. The second visit will be shorter at about 5 days. However, a third visit is then necessary for frozen embryo transfer. The initial scans and medicines can be commenced in your own country, and you will only be required to stay for 2 or 3 days for the third visit.

The Biological Clock

This tool indicates:

  • Natural conception per month if you have no fertility issues
  • IVF success rate at the same age
  • When to seek help after months of unsuccessful attempts

If you are concerned at any stage – we recommend booking a doctor appointment or a free nurse consultation. The sooner you make a plan the better your chances in the long term.

When to seek advice early

  • If you have polycystic ovaries, endometriosis, or have been through a cancer diagnosis; we recommend you get in touch quickly so we can talk you through all your options and give you the greatest possible chance of success.
  • If you’re a single woman considering motherhood in the future; it’s best to approach us early and consider egg freezing as this can be an option for you while you have a higher ovarian reserve and healthier eggs.

Body Mass Index calculator

Being overweight or underweight can reduce fertility, so it is important to keep your body weight within the normal healthy range.

Body Mass Index (BMI) is an indication of your body weight and can be calculated by dividing weight by height. You should aim for a BMI of between 20 and 25, as this will optimise your chances of conception.

Woman’s BMI below 19

Even in these modern times, nature knows best. If a woman's BMI falls below 19, the body senses famine and ovulation is switched off to prevent the risk of having a baby with malnutrition. Excessive exercise can reduce body fat and increase muscle mass to a point where periods cease for the same reason. Risk of miscarriage is also increased in women with a low BMI.

Being underweight

If a woman's BMI falls below 19, the body senses famine and ovulation is switched off to prevent the risk of having a baby with malnutrition. Excessive exercise can reduce body fat and increase muscle mass to a point where periods cease for the same reason. Risk of miscarriage is also increased in women with a low BMI.

BMI’s greater than 30

This can reduce fertility by 50%. Pregnancy for women with a 30+ BMI is often associated with problems such as maternal diabetes, high blood pressure, big babies and increased risk of caesarean section.
