Aaron Chen
Associate Scientific Director and Chief PGT Scientist
He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree (Hons) in Genetics and Molecular Biology from University of Malaya in 2007. He is an Embryologist and Preimplantation Genetic Testing scientist by training and has been actively involved in researches related to Preimplantation Genetic Testing on embryos. He pursued his fellowship with the renowned Reproductive Genetics Institute in Chicago, and subsequently pursued his PhD. He is now the Associate Scientific Director of Sunfert International. He heads Sunfert Genetics and Embryology Division, and focuses on the researches in pre-implantation genetic screening and diagnosis on various type of genetic disorders such as Muscular Dystrophy, Thalassemia and other rare disorders.
His team achieved Malaysia’s first pregnancy from embryo that was screened for alpha-thalassaemia using PGT-M. In his recent milestone, his team assisted a thalassaemia carrier couple achieving pregnancy from a HLA-matched and thalassaemia major free embryo using Karyomapping, an advanced technology for Preimplantation Genetic Testing.
