Dr. Haris commenced his practice in Sunfert Kuching, a one-stop fertility centre in Kuching as the resident consultant gynaecologist and fertility specialist.
Prior to his change in practice, he has had 27 years of working experience as an obstetrician & gynaecologist and 17 years as fertility specialist primarily in Sarawak General Hospital and had also worked in West Suffolk Hospital and Haroldwood Hospital in the United Kingdom, where he had part of his 3 years Reproductive Medicine Subspecialty Training.
Dr. Haris obtained his membership (MRCOG) in 1995 and Fellowship (FRCOG) in 2008. He was gazetted as a Reproductive Medicine specialist (Fertility specialist) by the Ministry of Health in 2005 and was registered in NSR in 2012.
He has been actively involved in administrative, clinical work, research and training at the hospital, state, national and international level for many years. He is passionate about the field of fertility and minimally invasive & robotic surgery. Some of the portfolios that he has held include being the head of the O&G department in Sarawak General Hospital, chairman of the Medical Dental Advisory Committee, Sarawak General Hospital, chairman of the national reproductive medicine services, chairman and trainer o f the reproductive medicine subspecialty training committee (MOH), deputy national head of obstetrics and gynaecology services in the Ministry of Health, adjunct professor in UNIMAS and past president of OGSM 2019/2020. He is currently the chairman of NSR Specialty Sub-committee for O&G (Reproductive Medicine) and a member of the FIGO committee on Health Systems Strengthening and Respectful Care.
